The Los Angeles Angels and the Houston Astros face off on Saturday at Minute Maid Park in game two of their MLB series of AL West teams.
The Houston Astros mounted a comeback on Friday but they were unable to make it hold up as they lost to the Angels. Jason Castro hit a home run, Evan Gattis had two hits, and Jose Altuve added a hit as the scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Roberto Hernandez allowed three hits and three runs while striking out six over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Chad Qualls took the loss. For Saturday’s game the Astros start Dallas Keuchel who has allowed nine hits and two runs while striking out seven over 14 innings for a 1-0 record and 1.29 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels moved to .500 for the season that is good enough to be in first place in the AL West with a win on Friday against the Astros. Mike Trout hit two home runs, Kole Calhoun had two hits, and Erick Aybar added a hit as the Angels scored six runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Jered Eaver allowed six hits and two runs while striking out three over 6.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Cesar Ramos got the win and Huston Street earned his fourth save. For Saturday’s game the Angels start C.J. Wilson who has allowed 11 hits and six earned runs while striking out six over 13.2 innings for a 1-1 record and a 3.95 ERA.
Houston is 6-2 in their last eight games as a favorite, 17-37 in Saturday games, 1-5 in their last six home games, and 7-0 in Keuchel’s last seven starts. Los Angeles is 5-1 in their last six road games, 5-1 against the AL West, 2-5 as an underdog, and 1-4 in Wilson’s last five starts. Los Angeles is 2-4 in their last six games in Houston.
The Angels are a re better team on the road and Houston has struggled at home and even with Keuchel going I give the edge to the Rangers.
