Target Field and the Minnesota Twins match up with the AL Central rival Cleveland Indians.
The Cleveland Indians might be one of the best teams in the American League Central but right now they are not playing like it. The Indians have dropped five of six following a 3-2, eleven inning loss at Minnesota on Friday. Starter Corey Kluber did not figure in the decision with a pair of runs scored on three hits over eight frames while recording eight strikeouts. The loss went to Bryan Shaw who served up a homer in the 11th. The offense was never able to string things together on an eight hit, five walk attack that saw Brandon Moss hit his first homer of 2015 while Lonnie Chisenhall and Michael Brantley recorded two singles each. Danny Salazar gets the call to the mound for the first time when faces off with Minnesota. Salazar had 20 starts a year ago and went 6-8 with a 4.25 ERA over 110 innings of work.

The Minnesota Twins are not even close to the top of the list of contenders in the American League Central but they have been playing like it with three consecutive victories. The Twins rallied from a 2-0 deficit to edge the Indians and ace Corey Kluber to capture game number one of their series with the Tribe. Mike Pelfrey came up big by holding Cleveland to three hits and a run through five innings pitched. The Twins didn’t crush the ball on six hits and four bases on balls with Chris Herrmann driving in a run and scoring while Trevor Plouffe led off the 11th with a walk off jack. Phil Hughes toes the rubber for the third time when he takes on the dangerous Indians Saturday. Hughes dropped a 6-2 decision to the White Sox with three runs plated on eight hits over six frames.
Cleveland are 2-7 in their last 9 as an underdog and 15-6 in their last 21 Saturday games while the under is 10-4 in the Indians last 14 Saturday games. The over is 7-1-1 in Minnesota’s last 9 games as a favorite and 21-6-1 in their last 28 home games while the Twins are 1-7 in their last 8 Saturday games. Head to head Cleveland are 12-4 in their last 16 meetings in Minnesota. I don’t know if I would bet Cleveland right now but there is some value with them I think…
