The streaking New York Mets look to keep the good times rolling against the visiting Miami Marlins.
The Miami Marlins have yet to get consistency from their pitching and hitting and as a result the wins haven’t been easy to come by. That trend continued in a series opening 4-1 defeat at Citi Field on Friday night. David Phelps was charged with a single run over 4.2 innings pitched with Brad Hand taking the loss with two runs scored in just 2/3 of an inning. That was too much for the Marlins offense to contend with on their seven hits with Giancarlo Stanton clubbing his second long ball of the season in the first being the extent of their scoring. The Marlins send a struggling Mat Latos to the hill hoping he can turn things around versus the Mets. In two outings Latos has been charged with nine earned runs on eleven hits and five BB over 4.2 frames.

The New York Mets are out to show the rest of the baseball world that the National League East doesn’t belong to Washington. The surging Mets won number six in a row with both the arms and bats contributing to the success. Bartolo Colon improved to 3-0 with the lone run plated on six hits through seven innings to shrink his ERA to 2.25. The bats didn’t pound the ball with seven hits and three bases on balls. Michael Cuddyer went 2-4 with a double and RBI and a run while Eric Campbell connected on a sacrifice fly and scored. The Mets send Jacob deGrom to the hill to face the visiting Marlins on Saturday. DeGrom is was outstanding in a 2-0 victory over the Phillies where he tossed a seven hit shutout in seven innings of work.
The under is 9-1-1 in Miami’s last 11 Saturday games and is 8-1 in their last 9 games as an underdog while the Marlins are2-9 in their last 11 games as an underdog. The over is 7-1-1 in the Mets last9 overall and 7-1-1 in their last 9 on grass while New York are 21-8 in their last 29 games as a favorite. It’s tough to go against the Mets right now and although they can’t win them all I hope they get the job done Saturday…
