The Los Angeles Angels look to end their series at Minute Maid Park with a win over the Houston Astros.
The Los Angeles Angels were tough to handle last season with great pitching and great hitting getting on the same page more often then not. It was more not Saturday with the offense stalling in a 4-0 defeat at Houston. Veteran lefty was a tough luck loser with a pair of runs scored on three hits and four bases on balls with eight strikeouts over 6.2 frames with Mike Morin giving up two more in 1/3 of an inning to put this one out of reach for a struggling offense. The Angels mustered three hits and walked three times with CJ Cron and Johnny Giavotella smacking doubles. Garrett Richards makes his return to the mound from a knee injury when he faces the Astros on Sunday. Richards made 26 starts in 2014 and went 13-4 with a 2.61 ERA covering 168.2 innings of work.

The Houston Astros have been relatively competitive thus far although the season is young and it remains to be seen if the Astros can keep it up over a 162 game schedule. The Stos continued their decent play with a solid 4-0 win versus the visiting Angels were a few key hits and outstanding work on the mound was the key. Starter Dallas Keutchel improved to 2-0 with a two hit shutout over six innings while walking three and striking out seven. The Astros didn’t crush the ball on four hits and five walks with Robbie Grossman clubbing a three run homer while George Springer connected on a solo shot. Right hander Scott Feldman will be on the bump looking for a big rebound from his last outing. Feldman did not have his best stuff in an 8-1 defeat to Oakland where he allowed eight runs (seven earned) on ten hits including three homers in five frames.
The Angels are 5-11 in their last 16 overall and 5-11 in their last 16 games on grass while going 7-1 in Richards’ last 8 road starts. The under is 35-15-2 in Houston’s last 52 overall and 35-15-2 in their last 52 on grass while the Astros are 5-11 in their last 16. Head to head the over is 5-2-1 in the last 8 meetings in Houston with the Angels going 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. I have no idea how long Richards goes or if he is on a pitch count but I’ll back him if the line is reasonable…
