The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Texas Rangers face off on Wednesday at Chase Field in MLB interleague baseball.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have been a positive surprise this season but they let a close game get away from them late as they lost to the Rangers on Tuesday. Yasmany Tomas had two hits and Paul Goldschmidt and Mark Trumbo had hits as the Diamondbacks scored one run on seven hits. Starting pitcher Chase Anderson allowed three hits and a run while striking out five over 7.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Daniel Hudson took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Diamondbacks start Archie Bradley who has allowed five hits and two runs while striking out 10 over 12.2 innings for a 1-0 record and 1.42 ERA.

The Texas Rangers couldn’t get the bats going early on Tuesday but they exploded late to get the win. Prince Fielder had two hits including a home run and Elvis Andrus and Leonys Martin each had two hits as the Rangers scored seven runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Nicholas Martinez allowed five hits and a run while striking out three over 6.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Shaw Tolleson got the win. For Wednesday’s game the Rangers start Yovani Gallardo who has allowed 20 hits and six runs while striking out 15 over 15.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 3.45 ERA.
Arizona is 4-1 in game two of a series, 1-6 against the AL West, and 9-5 as a home favorite. Texas is 15-32 in game two of a series, 13-3 against a team with a winning record, and 4-7 in their last 11 road games. Texas is 14-5 in their last 19 games against Arizona.
This should be another good one and while I don’t like the way the Arizona bullpen looked on Tuesday I give the Diamondbacks a slight edge with Bradley starting.
