The Seattle Mariners and the Houston Astros face off on Wednesday at Safeco Field in a MLB AL West matchup.
The Seattle Mariners continued with their disappointing play on Tuesday as they lost to the Astros. Brad Miller had two hits and Austin Jackson and Robinson Cano each had hits as the Mariners scored three runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Taijuan Walker allowed four hits and run while striking out eight over 5.1 innings to not get a decision as Charlie Furbush took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Mariners start J.A. Happ who has allowed 12 hits and four runs while striking out four over 13.1 innings for a 0-1 record and a 2.70 ERA.

The Houston Astros continued to look like contenders in the AL West as they rallied for the win in Seattle on Tuesday. Jose Altuve, Luis Valbuena, and George Springer each had hits as the Mariners scored six runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Collin McHugh allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out three over 7.0 innings to get the win and Chad Qualls earned the save. For Wednesday’s game the Astros start Roberto Hernandez who has allowed eight hits and eight runs while striking out eight over 10.2 innings for a 0-1 record and a 3.38 ERA.
Seattle is 5-3 against a team with a winning record, 2-6 in their last eight games, and 0-5 in Wednesday games. Houston is 5-1 in their last six games, 33-75 against a team with a losing record, and 0-4 as an underdog up to +150. Houston is 6-1 in their last seven games in Seattle.
This game looks like a coin flip but I don’t like Seattle’s middle relief so I will take my chances on the Astros at the big price.
