The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals face off on Friday at US Cellular Field for game two of their MLB series of AL Central teams.
The Chicago White Sox battled back from a deficit on Thursday against the Royals but they were unable to make the most of it as they fell in extra innings. Jose Abreu had two hits and Melky Cabrera and Adam LaRoche added hit as the White Sox scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Chris Sale allowed nine hits and two runs while striking out two over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Jacob Petricka took the loss. For Friday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who has allowed 22 hits and 15 runs, 14 earned, while striking out 11 over 15 innings for a 1-1 record and 8.40 ERA.

The Kansas City Royals continue to look like contenders to get back to the World Series as they showed determination getting the win on Thursday. Mike Moustakas and Eric Hosmer each had three hits and Alex Gordon added two hits as the Royals scored three runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Yodano Ventura allowed five hits and two runs while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Franklin Morales got the win to go to 2-0 for the season and Wade Davis earned his fourth save. For Friday’s game the Royals start Danny Duffy who has allowed 18 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out 13 over 16.1 innings for a 1-0 record and a 5.51 ERA.
Chicago is 4-12 as an underdog, 2-6 in game two of a series, and 2-5 in Quintana’s last seven home starts. Kansas City is 15-6 in their last 21 road games, 20-8 against a left-handed starter, and 6-2 in Duffy’s last eight starts as a road favorite. Kansas City is 22-7 in their last 29 games in Chicago.
We should see a lot of scoring here and I like the Whit Sox to outslug the Royals at home.
