The New York Mets and the New York Yankees end their series on Sunday Night Baseball.
The New York Mets two week long hot streak came to an end Friday so the question was whether they could jump back on the horse and continue winning. The answer was a resounding yes with Matt Harvey and the offense taking care of business. Harvey gave up both runs on five hits and a pair of bases on balls while striking out seven over 8.2 innings to go to 4-0. The offense racked up 12 hits with Lucas Duda and Eric Campbell smacking solo homers while Kevin Plawecki went deep and drove in three with a four run 4th doing most of the damage. Left hander Jon Niese draws Sunday’s start against the rival Yankees looking to up his record to 3-0. Niese is 2-0 but has survived despite an overabundance of runners with a 1.50 ERA but a high 1.56 WHIP.

The New York Yankees are starting to make other’s take notice in the American League East although they took one on the chin Saturday after stopping the Mets on Friday. The Bronx Bombers struggles on Saturday could be traced back to their pitching where veteran CC Sabathia continued to have issues with seven runs plated on nine hits including three homers through five frames to fall to 0-4. The bats could not save the day with five hits and a pair of walks to lean on with Mark Texiera leading the way with a 3-4 performance with his 8th homer. Nathan Eovaldi gets the ball for Sunday’s start against the New york Mets. Eovaldi picked up his first win of 2015 in a 5-2 win versus Detroit where he allowed a single run on eight hits over seven frames.
The Mets are 19-7 in their last 26 overall and are 19-7 in their last 26 games on grass. The over is 6-1-1 in the Yankees last 8 games as a favorite while the under is 43-20-1 in their last 64 interleague games. When I look at this match up I don’t see a clear favorite because both hurlers have a high WHIP and are walking time bombs so take this for what it’s worth…
