The San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Sunday at PETCO Park as they close out their MLB series of NL West teams.
The San Diego Padres hit well and scored runs on Saturday but they were outscored by the Dodgers. Justin Upton hit two home runs, WIl Myers hit a home run, and Matt Kemp had two hits before he was ejected as the Padres scored eight runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Ian Kennedy allowed eight hits and eight runs while striking out two over 4.1 innings to take the loss. For Sunday’s game the Padres start Brandon Morrow who has allowed 17 hits and seven runs while striking out 15 over 20 innings for a 0-0 record and 3.15 ERA.

The Los Angeles Dodgers took out the big bats as they battered the Padres on Saturday. Andre Ethier, Adrian Gonzalez, Howie Kendrick, and Juan Uribe each hit home runs as the Dodgers scored 11 runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Brandon McCarthy allowed six hits and six runs while striking out four over 5.0 innings to get the win and go to 3-0 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Dodgers start Scott Baker who pitched for Texas last season where he allowed 82 hits and 49 runs while striking out 55 over 80.2 innings for a 3-4 record and a 5.47 ERA.
San Diego is 8-2 after losing the first two games of a series and 37-18 in their last 45 home games. Los Angeles is 9-3 in their last 12 games, 4-1 in game three of a series, and 3-7 in their last 10 road games. Los Angeles is 5-1 in the last six meetings of these two.
The line for this one isn’t out yet but I like the Padres here behind Morrow to salvage a win.
