The Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals clash for the second day at Progressive Field.
The Kansas City Royals have a solid combination of pitching and hitting which is nice to have when trying to avoid losing streaks. The Royals once again had everything going for them in Monday’s 6-2 win at Cleveland. Starter Jason Vargas improved to 2-1 with both runs plated on three hits and five bases on balls over five frames. KC unleashed a 13 hit, two walk attack with Alex Gordon going 2-4 with two RBI’s while Mike Moustakas going 4-5 with a pair of runs. Kansas City gives the ball to Jeremy Guthrie who faces the Indians for the first time. Guthrie is coming off of a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Minnesota with all three runs scored on six hits and six BB over five frames.

The Indians offense didn’t help matters with only four hits and five walks to lean on with Mike Aviles swinging the big bat with a two run homer and a pair of bases on balls. Jason Kipnis went 2-4 with a run but the rest of the offense failed to contribute. Trevor Bauer looks to continue his hot start on the mound versus the Royals on Tuesday. Bauer did not get a decision in a 4-3 loss at the White Sox where he tossed a four hit shutout over seven frames.
Kansas City are 20-8 in their last 28 games as an underdog and 29-12 in their last 41 overall while going 29-12 in their last 41 games on grass. The under is 8-3 in Cleveland’s last 11 overall and is 8-3 in their last 11 on grass while going 40-16 in their last 56 games as a favorite. If Bauer is not sick I favor the Indians but I have no way of knowing if he is 100%...
