The Kansas City Royals hope to leave Progressive Field with a win versus the Cleveland Indians.
The Kansas City Royals have solid pitching and hitting which makes them tough to beat but either the arms or bats are capable of winning on their lonesome. The offense did just that in an 11-5 victory at Cleveland on Tuesday. Starter Jeremy Guthrie gave up four runs on six hits and a trio of bases on balls while four relievers held the Indians in cTheck. KC racked up 18 hits and walked four times with Kendrys Morales going 3-5 with a homer and three RBI’s and four runs while Alex Gordon homered and drove in two with a pair of runs. Only two starters failed to score or drive in a run. Yordano Ventura shoots for his third win of 2015 when he faces the Indians on Wednesday. Ventura is coming off of a 3-2 win at the White Sox with both runs plated on five hits while whiffing eight in seven frames.

The Cleveland Indians might be on the outside looking in at the top spot in the American League Central so it’s crucial to beat Kansas City and Detroit. The Indians failed to do that versus the Royals Tuesday as the pen couldn’t get outs. Starter Trevor Bauer allowed three runs on seven hits through six innings but four relievers surrendered eight runs. The Tribe mustered nine hits and walked four times with Brandon Moss going deep with three RBI’s and two runs with Michael Brantley knocking in two more. Danny Salazar looks for his third consecutive victory to open 2015 when he takes the hill against Kansas City. In two starts Salazar has given up three runs on 12 hits with 21 strikeouts over 13 innings.
The under is 12-4 in Kansas City’s last 16 Wednesday’s games while the Royals are 19-7 in their last 26 games as an underdog and 13-5 in their last 18 Wed. games. The under is 9-1 in Cleveland’s last 10 Wednesday games and is 40-17 in their last 57 games as a favorite while the Indians are 11-5 in Salazar’s last 16 starts on grass.
