The Los Angeles Angels look to get back in the win column at the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Angels are one of the favorites to capture the American League West for the second consecutive year although I need to see more of every team before I cast my vote. The Athletics took down the Angels 6-2 on Wednesday with a poor first inning setting the tone. Starter Jered Weaver has struggled in the early going with all six runs plated on six hits including a pair of homers over seven frames to fall to 0-3. A five run first did the team in with the offense unable to keep up on six hits and a base on balls. David Freese singled in two runs in the first but that was it. Matt Shoemaker gets the ball against the Athletics for consecutive outings versus Oakland. Shoemaker fell to the A’s 6-3 with five runs given up on seven hits including a pair of homers in three frames.

The Oakland Athletics are supposed to make some noise in the American League West but time will tell if that comes about. The Athletics looked good Tuesday with both the arms and bats putting forth great performances. Sonny Gray had a shaky first with the Angels scoring twice before he settled down to pitch eight innings to up his record to 3-0. The Athletics managed just six hits but Brett Lawrie and Josh Reddick homering and knocking in three runs apiece. Jesse Hahn toes the rubber for his first career start against the Angels on Wednesday. Hahn is coming off of a 5-0 defeat of Kansas City on the road where he tossed a three hit shutout over 5.1 frames.
The over is 10-1 in Oakland’s last 11 home games and are 3-9 in their last 12 Wednesday games. The Angels are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings and the over is 18-7-1 in the last 26 meetings in Oakland. I don’t see a clear cut favorite in this one but there is no line out so please check back…
