The Tampa Bay Rays visit Camden Yards to open a weekend set with the Baltimore Orioles.
After winning five in a row the Tampa Bay Rays dropped two straight at Yankee Stadium before salvaging the final game of the series by a 3-2 count in 13 innings. The Rays have been riding their pitching during their hot streak and did so once again on Sunday. Starter Drew Smyly gave up both runs on four hits over six innings on solo homers while whiffing ten for a no decision. The Rays posted seven hits and walked four times with Kevin Kermaier going 2-4 with a two run triple with James Loney smacking an RBI single. Alex Colome makes his season debut when he faces the dangerous Orioles at Camden yards on Friday. Colome has just six career starts under his belt and has not allowed an earned run in three of them.

The Baltimore Orioles have yet to catch fire and are in the middle of a jumbled up American League East race where two games separate the top from the bottom. After cancelling two games because of riots the Orioles pounded the White Sox 8-2 on Wednesday to record their third consecutive victory. A six run first was all starter Ubaldo Jimenez needed as he allowed two unearned runs on three hits and a free pass through seven frames. Chris Davis clubbed a three run homer with Manny Machado going 3-4 with a homer and three runs while Caleb Joseph went 2-4 with a pair of RBI’s. Chris Tillman will be looking for consistency when he takes the hill versus Tampa Bay. Tillman had nothing going in a 7-6 loss to Toronto with all seven runs allowed on five hits and five BB in 6.2 frames.
Tampa Bay are 6-2 in their last 8 overall. The over is 13-2-2 in Baltimore’s last 17 home game and is 11-4 in last 15 games following a win while the under is 20-8-1 in BAL last 29 Fri. games. The question mark is Tillman and whether he bounces back because the O’s lose if he doesn’t…
