The Houston Astros hope to keep rolling in their Sunday match up with the Seattle Mariners.
The Seattle Mariners don’t always score a ton of points but when they do they have to win. However scoring was the least of their problems with a meltdown on the mound in an 11-4 rout at red hot Houston. Starter Taijuan Walker was hit early and often with eight runs scored (seven earned) on nine hits including three long balls over three innings pitched. The Mariners produced seven hits and walked twice with Nelson Cruz going deep twice with Logan Morrison and Mike Zunino connecting on solo jacks. Veteran left hander is charged with containing the white hot bats of the Houston Astros. Happ is coming off of his best effort of 2015 in a 2-1 decision at Texas with the lone run scored on six hits and nine K’s in 6.2 frames.

I don’t think there is any doubt the Houston Astros have been showing some progress the past few seasons but this team is as hot as I can remember in years. The Astros have won ten of eleven after Saturday’s win with Collin McHugh allowing all four runs on four solo homers through six frames to improve to 4-0. Not a great effort but it mattered little with the Stos receiving homers from Jose Altuve, Luis Valbuena, Colby Rasmus, Evan Gattis and Hank Conger. Roberto Hernandez takes the bump versus Seattle looking to continue his solid start to the year. Hernandez comes off of a 14-3 rout at San Diego with all three runs scored on six hits over six innings.
The under is 15-7 in Seattle’s last 22 Sunday games. Houston are 11-1 in their last 12 games as an underdog and are 13-3 in their last 16 overall while going 13-3 in their last 16 games on grass. I don’t think I can bet against the Astros right now but I suppose if the Mariners win one Happ gives them a chance…
