The New York Mets look to maintain their grip in the NL East versus the Washington Nationals.

The Washington Nationals might finally be coming together but only time will tell. The Nationals have won four of five following a 1-0 victory at Citi Field on Saturday night. Gio Gonzalez came off the disabled list to throw a six hit shutout over seven frames while striking out nine. In evening his record at 2-2 with three relievers finishing the job. The Nats posted nine hits and walked once with Michael Taylor driving in Ian Desmond with the lone run while one starter failed to reach base. The Nationals hope to end their series with the Mets with another win with Doug Fister on the hill. Fister has not looked good in back to back outings with ten runs plated on 17 hits and four BB over 11.2 frames.

New York Mets vs. Washington Nationals - 5/3/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The New York Mets were white hot to begin the season and the question being how long the winning would continue. The Mets are getting their first taste of adversity with Saturday’s defeat being their 4th in five contests. The blame for this one didn’t fall on the pitching as starter Jon Niese was outstanding. Niese allowed the only run on nine hits and a base on balls through seven innings yet still fell to 2-2. The Mets struggled at the plate with six hits and a pair of walks with Juan Lagares going 2-4.Dillon Gee gets Sunday’s starting assignment versus visiting Washington. Gee looks for his third straight quality start where he allowed three runs on 14 hits and a walk covering 14.2 innings pitched.

Washington are 17-5 in their last 22 Sunday games and  are 3-7 in their last 10 overall while going 3-7 in their last 10 games on grass. The over is 6-2-1 in Mets last 9 games as an underdog while New York are 14-5 in their last 19 overall and  14-5 in their last 19 games on grass. I’m not completely sold on Washington but Fister has thrown well in this match up…
