The Los Angeles Angels look to leave AT&T Park with a win against the San Francisco Giants.
The Los Angeles Angels were tops in the American League West but right now their thoughts have to be on just winning a few games. That didn’t happen Saturday with neither the arms or bats being strong enough in a 5-4 defeat at San Francisco. Starter Hector Santiago took the loss with four runs scored on nine hits and a pair of bases on balls over five frames. The Angels mustered four hits and two walks with Mike Trout and Albert Pujols going deep with Trout scoring twice. Jered Weaver looks to right the ship when he takes the bump versus San Francisco on Sunday. Weaver is coming off of a 6-2 defeat to Oakland with all six runs allowed on six hits including two homers in seven frames.

The San Francisco Giants are similar to their counterparts in that they need some wins to get on a roll because they haven’t been setting the world on fire. The Giants are hoping Saturday’s victory is the beginning of a hot streak. Starter Tim Hudson surrendered two homers and three runs through eight innings pitched to pick up his first win of the season while four relievers held the Angels offense at bay. The Giants racked up eleven hits and two free passes with Buster Posey and Brandon Crawford slugging long balls while Norichika Aoki went 2-5 with two RBI’s. Tim Lincecum takes the ball Sunday in the series finale’ versus the visiting Angels. Lincecum fell at the Dodgers by an 8-3 count with four runs plated on eight hits and a trio of BB over four innings.
The Angels are 9-3 in Weaver’s last 12 interleague starts. San Francisco are 2-6 in their last 8 Sunday games while the under is 5-2-1 in their last 8 on grass and is 5-2-1 in SF last 8 overall. Los Angeles are 6-3 in the last 9 meetings. There isn’t an edge here in my view so I’ would rather take the better odds for no other reason…
