The St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs face off on Tuesday at Busch Stadium for game two of their MLB series of NL Central teams.
The St. Louis Cardinals fell behind big early on Monday but they never gave up and earned the victory in game one against the Cubs. Starting pitcher Carlos Martinez allowed nine hits and seven runs while striking out four over 3.2 innings to not get a decision as Miguel Socolovich got the win and Seth Maness earned the save. St. Louis is 7-0 in game two of a series, 42-20 in their last 62 games, and 1-4 in Lyons’ last five home starts. Chicago is 4-1 in game two of a series, 3-8 against a left-handed starter, and 11-3 in Hendricks’ last 14 starts. Chicago is 4-11 in their last 15 games in St. Louis.
I don’t love the pitching matchup and we should see plenty of scoring but I have to give the Cardinals the edge once again as they are just the more consistent team.
