The Cincinnati Reds head to PNC Park to battle the Pittsburgh Pirates in NL Central action.
The Cincinnati Reds have loads of talent but they do seem to under achieve or perhaps I am giving them too much credit. The Reds are having problems stringing the wins together and not even ace Johnny Cueto was enough in Sunday’s 5-0 loss at Atlanta with all five runs allowed on nine hits including a pair of bombs over six frames to fall to 2-3. The offense provided no help with four hits and three bases on balls with Brandon Phillips walking twice while Joey Votto singled and walked.Cincinnati hands the ball to rookie Michael Lorenzen for his second career start when he faces Pittsburgh Tuesday. Lorenzen dropped his debut by an 8-3 count to Milwaukee with three runs plated on eight hits including three homers in five frames.

The Pittsburgh Pirates are going nowhere fast and need to at least win a few series to stay reasonably close to St Louis who are refusing to lose right now. The Pirates are looking to shake off the sting of a 3-2, 14 inning defeat versus the Cardinals where they led 2-1 in the top of the 14th. Starter Vance Worley allowed a single run on four hits (homer) through with frames with Radhames Liz giving up two runs in the 14th to get the loss. The Buccos totaled eleven hits and four walks with Pedro Alvarez and Jung-ho Kang slugging solo homeruns. Left hander Jeff Locke faces Cincinnati for the first time shooting for his second victory of 2015. Locke comes off a 6-2 loss at Chicago with all six runs scored on eight hits and three BB over 3.2 innings.
Cincinnati are 14-37 in their last 51 road games. The under is 6-1-2 in Pittsburgh last 9 overall with the under going 6-1-2 in their last 9 on grass while the Pirates are 37-17 in their last 54 home games. The under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings. I’m a little sour on both teams and honestly would back neither…
