The Oakland Athletics look to go on a long hot streak with another win at the Minnesota Twins.
The Oakland Athletics have not been playing very good baseball the last few weeks but perhaps Tuesday’s 2-1 victory at red hot Minnesota is the spark they need to go on a run. The Athletics rode the arm of Jesse Chavez to the win with the bats not doing much Chavez allowed an unearned run on four hits while striking out seven in seven frames to pick up the win. The Athletics totaled nine hits and walked twice with Billy Butler and Brett Lawrie recording RBI’s. The Athletics send Scott Kazmir to the mound who will be looking to add to his string of quality starts at Minnesota. Kazmir has been outstanding so far with five quality starts to kick off the year with a 2-0 record and 1.62 ERA.

The Minnesota Twins had easily been playing their best baseball of the season with five consecutive victories while winning eight of ten overall. The roll was interrupted in Tuesday’s defeat which is no big deal unless the losses continue to mount. Starter Trevor May was a tough luck loser with both runs given up on five hits and a pair of free passes through 5.2 frames with four relievers putting up zeros. The blame for this one fell on the shoulders or the offense which managed five hits and a walk with Brian Dozier smacking an RBI double that scored Jordan Schafer who also doubled. Minnesota will counter with Kyle Gibson on the bump who faces Oakland for the first time in 2015. Gibson comes off his best outing of the year with a four hit shutout over eight innings of a 10 win versus the White Sox.
The over is 20-6-2 in Oakland’s last 28 games as a favorite while the Athletics are 3-10 in their last 13 Wednesday games with the over going 19-6-1 in their last 26 overall. The over is 24-9-1 in Minnesota’s last 34 home games with the Twins going 21-43 in their last 64 Wednesday games while the over is 7-2 in Gibson’s last 9 home starts. These teams were heading in opposite directions but if pitching wins games the A’s have the edge here…
