The Los Angeles Dodgers visit Coors Field to challenge the rival Colorado Rockies Friday night.
The Los Angeles Dodgers lead the pack in the National League West as they look for their second straight division title. After the struggling Brewers gave them a punch to the gut a few times this week the Dodgers returned the favor in a 14-4 beat down Thursday afternoon. Carlos Frias gave up three runs on six hits with six K’s over five frames with three relievers finishing the job. The Dodgers pounded out 14 hits and walked ten times with Yasmani Grandal going 4-4 with two homers and eight RBI’s while Alex Guerrero went solo. Adrian Gonzalez drove in two more with five players scoring at least twice. The Dodgers send Brett Anderson to the bump who faces Colorado for the first time in his career. Anderson enjoyed his best outing of the year in a 1-0 victory against Arizona where he tossed a five hit shutout over six innings.
USA TODAY Sports
The Colorado Rockies were great in early 2014 but are not off to a good start so far and that has to have the fans worried because they have faded as prior season’s have matured. The Rockies have struggled to get their pitching and hitting on the same page which has factored in to a seven game slide. The Rockies come off a 5-1 loss in the second game of a doubleheader with Arizona. Jordan Lyles kept his team competitive with four runs plated on nine hits over seven frames but he needed a shutout with the offense posting five hits with Michael McHenry doubling in Troy Tulowitzki with the only run. Colorado goes with Eddie Butler on the hill who has faced the Dodgers three times in eight career starts. Butler was hit hard the last time out in a 14-3 defeat at San Diego where he allowed five runs (three earned) on four hits and a pair of BB in four frames.
The over is 10-4-1 in the Dodgers last 15 Friday games and Los Angeles are 4-10 in their last 14 road games while the over is 33-15-4 in their last 52 overall. The over is 6-2 in Colorado’s last 8 overall and is 6-2 in their last 8 on grass while going 6-2 in the Rockies last 8 vs. National League West. The over is 8-1 in the last 9 meetings and the Dodgers are 16-5 in the last 21 meetings. At a great price I can not resist backing the Dodgers…
