The New York Yankees look to expand their lead in the AL East when they visit the Tampa Bay Rays.
For those that are waiting for the New York Yankees to falter the wait will be on hold for another day. The red hot Yankees have won seven of ten after knocking off Baltimore 6-2 Sunday. Great pitching and a four run 4th carried the day with starter Michael Pineda improving to 5-0 with one run plated on a solo homer over seven frames while recording 16 strikeouts. The offense didn’t let him down with an eight hit, eight walk attack producing solo jacks from Brian McCann and Carlos Beltran while Jacoby Gregorius and Jacoby Ellsbury knocked in two runs apiece. Veteran left hander CC Sabathia looks for his first win when he takes the mound at Tropicana Field. Sabathia is coming off of a 5-1 defeat at Toronto where he allowed four runs on nine hits and two BB over 6.1 frames.

I think the goal for the Tampa Bay Rays is to stay above the .500 mark in the early going and then take off. In reality that’s exactly what they are doing minus the taking off part. The Tampa Bay Rays missed out on a win with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of visiting Texas on Sunday. Starter Jake Odorizzi did not get a decision despite an outstanding performance with a solo homer served up through 6.2 frames with Kevin Jepsen taking the loss with a run allowed in the 8th. The Rays only totaled five hits and walked twice with Brandon Guyer singling in Kevin Kiermaier with the only run while the Rays squandered a bases loaded opportunity in the 9th. Alex Colome shoots for his third win in his third start of 2015 when he opposes the Yankees Monday. Colome comes off of a 5-3 win at Fenway Park where he allowed two runs on four hits covering five innings.
New York are 7-2 in their last 9 road games and the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 games following a win while the Yankees are 17-6 in their last 23 overall. The under is 10-2 in Tampa Bay’s last 12 Monday games and the under is 12-3 in Rays last 15 overall while going are 7-2 in their last 9 home games. The Yankees are 2-8 in Sabathia’s last 10 starts vs. Tampa Bay and the over is 8-3-1 in Sabathia’s last 12 starts vs. Tampa Bay. I think I’d chance the Rays here who have had success against Sabathia…
