The New York Mets battle the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in Tuesday night action.
The New York Mets survived a slowdown from a hot start and need to keep winning with Washington showing signs of heating up. The Mets lost a game in the standings following a series opening 4-3 defeat at Wrigley Field. Starter Jacob deGrom gave up all four runs on five hits and four BB including a pair of homers over five frames to fall to 3-4. The Mets had a few opportunities on a six hit, five walk attack that featured solo homers from Lucas Duda and Wilmer Flores with Kevin Plawecki singling in a run. With Dillon Gee out the New York Mets call up rookie Noah Snydergaard to make his major league debut. Snydergaard was 3-0 with a 1.82 ERA at Triple A Las Vegas in five starts.

I would say the Chicago Cubs are a team to watch with some changes in the offseason looking good right now. The Cubs series opening win against the visiting Mets can best be described as just enough hitting and pitching. Starter Jon Lester allowed all three runs on five hits and four bases on balls including two long balls through six innings to improve to 3-2. The Cubbies produced six hits and walked six times with Kris Bryant going deep and knocking in two while Anthony Rizzo smacked his 7th long ball. The Cubs to right hander Jake Arrieta on the hill who opposes the Mets for the first time this season. Arrieta looks to rebound from back to back defeats where he was charged with eight earned runs on 16 hits in 10.1 frames.
The under is 7-1 in the Mets last 8 overall and is 7-1 in their last 8 on grass while New York are 7-2 in their last 9 Tuesday games. Chicago are 11-3 in their last 14 Tuesday games and are 2-7 in their last 9 overall while going 2-7 in their last 9 games on grass. I’d be lying if I said I knew what Snydergaard is going to do but at the price I might take a look at New York…
