The Texas Rangers shoot for a series ending win against the visiting Kansas City Royals.
The Kansas City Royals are battling Detroit for supremacy in the American League Central and having said that, every loss is critical. The Royals missed out on an opportunity to pick up ground in the standings with a 5-2 loss at Texas on Wednesday night. Yordano Ventura did not have a good night on the mound with all five runs scored on ten hits including two long balls over seven frames that dropped him to 2-3. The Royals managed six hits and a walk with Kendrys Morales driving in a run and scoring with Salvodor Perez knocked in a run with a double. The Royals end the series at Texas with veteran Jeremy Guthrie on the mound Thursday. Guthrie is shooting for consecutive victories after a 6-2 win at Detroit where he gave up both runs on eight hits in 7.1 innings.

The Texas Rangers are playing a little better then they did to begin the season and put everything together in knocking off Kansas City Wednesday. The Rangers received a strong effort on the mound from Yovani Gallardo with both runs plated on six hits and a free pass through seven innings to up his record to 3-5. The offense piled up eleven hits and walked twice with Prince Fielder going 3-4 with a homer and two RBI’s with Shin-Soo Choo smacking a round tripper with a pair of RBI’s while Delino DeShields Jr. going 3-3 with two runs. Left hander Ross Detwiler faces the Kansas City Royals for the first time in his career. Detwiler will be looking to rebound from a 7-2 loss at Tampa Bay where he was touched for five runs on five hits and three BB in four frames.
The over is 7-2 in Kansas City’s last 9 overall and is 7-2 in their last 9 on grass while the over is 6-2-1 in the Royals last 9 road games. Texas are 2-7 in their last 9 home games and the over is 5-2-1 in their last 8 on grass. The under is 10-3-2 in the last 15 meetings. I’m looking for the Royals to rebound here but in all honesty I’m not a Guthrie fan…
