The New York Mets welcome the Milwaukee Brewers to Citi Field to begin a weekend series.

The Milwaukee Brewers need to begin winning soon or risk becoming an afterthought in the National League Central. The Brewers appeared to be playing better baseball but have the fans guessing after dropping back to back contests to the White Sox. The Brew Crew dropped a 4-2 decision to Chicago on Wednesday with starter Jimmy Nelson allowing all four runs including a pair of bombs on eight hits and a pair of BB over 6.2 innings. The offense totaled seven hits and walked twice with Carlos Gomez going solo while Gerardo Parra singled in Hector Gomez.Kyle Lohse opens the series on the mound at Citi Field on Friday night. Lohse picked up his second win of 2015 by a 12-4 count over the Cubs with four runs plated on seven hits over five frames.

I am beginning to think there are some cracks beginning to form on the armor of the New York Mets as they seem to be in a slow slide with Washington read to take over. The Mets squandered a 4-1 lead on the way to a 6-5 defeat at Wrigley Field in a game that looked to be well in hand. Starter Jon Niese suffered through his poorest effort of the season with all six runs scored (four earned) on six hits and a walk over 6.1 frames with Wilmer Flores committing his 8th error. The bats produced ten hits and walked once but were hurt by 14 strikeouts. Flores cracked a solo jack with Anthony Recker also going deep with two RBI’s and a pair of runs. Veteran Bartolo Colon shoots for his 7th win when he takes the bump against the visiting Brewers. Colon picked up a 7-4 win at Philadelphia where he allowed all four runs on eight hits in six innings.

Milwaukee are 7-22 in their last 29 road games and the over is 10-4 in their last 14 Friday games while the Brewers  are 21-45 in their last 66 overall. The under is 9-1-1 in the Mets last 11 overall and  is 9-1-1 in their last 11 on grass while New York are 16-5 in their last 21 home games. The under is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings and Milwaukee  are 12-3 in the last 15 meetings in New York. I’m looking at the Mets although I don’t think the risk is worth putting much cash on the line the way they are playing…
