The Chicago White Sox look to open up the weekend with a road win versus the Oakland Athletics.
The past week has been good for the Chicago White Sox who are playing their best baseball with wins in four of five following a 4-2 victory at Milwaukee which gave them their second straight series win. Chicago jumped to a 3-0 first inning lead and then rode the arm of Jose Quintana. Quintana gave up a lone run on four hits and a walk while striking out ten over seven innings. The White Sox managed nine hits and walked four times with Avisail Garcia and Adam LaRoche stroking solo homers.Rookie left hander Carlos Rodon shoots for his second win in as many starts when he opposes Oakland Friday. Rodon defeated Cincinnati in his debut 8-2 with both runs given up on four hits and four BB in six frames.

The Oakland Athletics have been struggling with defeats in eight of ten which has the team staring at the basement in the American League West. With ace Sonny Gray on the hill facing a struggling Red Sox squad the odds appeared to favor the Athletics but the bats didn’t produce and the result was a 2-0 loss and Grays first defeat. Gray allowed a run on three hits and struck out nine through seven frames. The A’s had some opportunities to score on five hits and five free passes with Marcus Semien going 1-3 with a triple and a walk. Oakland looks for a rebound from Jesse Chavez when is tabbed for Friday’s start versus Chicago. Chavez has had some problems the last three times out with a combined 13 runs scored on 22 hits over15.1 innings.
The under is 9-1-1 in White Sox last 11 Friday games while Chicago are 9-25 in their last 34 road games. Oakland are 1-7 in their last 8 overall and are 1-7 in their last 8 games on grass while going 2-9 in their last 11 home games. The White Sox are 16-41 in their last 57 meetings in Oakland. I think I would rather take a shot with the hotter team and Rodon on the hill who looks good so far…
