The New York Mets look to get back in the win column against the Milwaukee Brewers.
It’s already desperation time for the Milwaukee Brewers who have dug themselves a deep hole. The Brewers are hoping a 7-0 victory at Citi Field is the start of something big with both their arms and bats performing well. Starter Kyle Lohse tossed his best game of the season with a two hit shutout over eight frames while striking out eight. The Brew Crew totaled ten hits with Ryan Braun smacking a pair of homers and knocking in three while Gerardo Parra going deep and driving in two.Matt Garza will be looking to duplicate his last outing when he gets the start against the Mets on Saturday. Garza is coming off of a 3-2 decision versus the Cubs where he allowed a run on three hits while striking out nine in seven innings.

The Mets are still sitting atop the National League East but they don’t have a stranglehold on first with Washington ready to pounce. What this means is New York needs to get their pitching and hitting back on the same page and that didn’t happen in game number one of the series with the visiting Brewers. Starter Bartolo Colon didn’t have anything going with six runs scored (five earned) on seven hits including a pair of homers through five frames to drop his record to 6-2. The offense was stymied on three hits and a walk while striking out nine times. Jacob deGrom will be looking to iron out a few kinks when he opposes visiting Milwaukee in game two of their series. DeGrom allowed all four runs in a 4-3 loss at Wrigley Field on five hits including a pair of bombs in five frames.
Milwaukee are 7-22 in their last 29 road games and are 21-45 in their last 66 overall while going 21-45 in their last 66 games on grass. The under is 9-2-1 in the Mets last 12 overall and the under is 9-2-1 in their last 12 on grass while New York are 16-5 in their last 21 home games. Interesting match up on the hill and if deGrom is off his game then Garza has the stuff to win…
