The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Philadelphia Phillies continue their series at Citizens Bank Park.
The Arizona Diamondbacks need both their pitching and hitting to come together in order to have a fighting chance as neither is strong enough to carry the team over long periods. A 4-3 loss at Philadelphia was shouldered by the bats and bullpen as starter Chase Anderson was outstanding. Anderson gave up just a single run on three hits and three bases on balls with Daniel Hudson allowing two runs and Drew Perez one to blow the save and take the loss. The offense had some opportunities on ten hits and a walk with Paul Goldschmidt smacking a two run double and AJ Pollock singling in another to give the Snakes a short lived 3-1 lead. Rookie Archie Bradley makes his first career start against Philadelphia on Saturday. Bradley is coming off a short outing where he allowed one run on two hits over 1.1 frames in a game a 12-5 win versus Colorado.

Very little has gone favorably for the Philadelphia Phillies this season so when they put together a few wins it’s a big deal. The Phillies have won three in a row after Friday’s victory with a few clutch hits and a strong performance on the mound from Chad Billingsley getting the job done. Billingsley kept his team alive with only two runs allowed on seven hits through six frames for a no decision. Philadelphia did their damage on seven hits and three walks with Freddy Galvis going 1-2 with a walk and an RBI with a pair of runs. The Phillies hand the ball to veteran Jerome Williams who looks to get in the win column versus the Diamondbacks. Williams dropped a 4-3 decision to Pittsburgh with three runs scored on four hits and a pair of BB in five innings.
The over is 6-2 in Arizona’s last 8 vs. National League East and the Diamondbacks are 17-38 in their last 55 road games. The under is 7-1-1 in Philadelphia’s last 9 Saturday games while the Phillies are 5-11 in their last 16 games as an underdog and 5-11 in their last 16 overall. The over is 5-2-2 in the last 9 meetings. I don’t know what to expect from Bradley and Williams is a coin flip but the Snakes might have a slight edge...
