The Texas Rangers are in a rebuilding year but they are on the verge of falling out of contention in the AL West early in the season. The Rangers are 10-9 on the road, 4-6 in their last 10 games, and they are nine games back in the American League West standings. As a team the Rangers are hitting .237 with Price Fielder hitting .344, Adrian Beltre hitting .258, and Shin-Soo Choo hitting  .242. As a team the Rangers pitching staff has an ERA of 4.25 with the starters at 3.98 and the bullpen at 4.68. For game one against the Red Sox the Rangers start Yovani Gallardo who has allowed 45 hits and 20 earned runs while striking out 32 over 45.2 innings for a 3-5 record and a 3.94 ERA.

Boston is 9-3 in game one of a series, 2-5 in their last seven games as a favorite, and 1-5 in their last six home games. Texas is 6-2 in their last eight road games, 16-35 against the AL East, and 4-13 following a win. Texas is 2-5 in their last seven meetings with Boston.

I expect to see some offense in this one and even with the total set at nine I like the over. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
