The Tampa Bay Rays look to make up some ground in the AL East with a win at the Atlanta Braves.

The Tampa Bay Rays were probably not at the top of the list of contenders in the American League East but they are battling the Yankees for the division lead.  The Rays picked up a game on New York in a 5-3 win at Turner Field Tuesday with both their arms and bats contributing. Starter Erasmo Ramirez gave up all three runs on two hits and two base on balls over five frames with five relievers putting up zeros. The Rays totaled eight hits and walked once with Asdrubal Cabrera going deep while Steven Souza and Logan Forsythe drove in runs and scored. Right hander Jake Odorizzi looks to grab a win at Atlanta in an interleague bout on Wednesday night. Odorizzi was a tough luck loser by a 3-2 count at Minnesota in his last start with all three runs plated on eight hits over six frames.

The Atlanta Braves don’t receive a lot of notoriety but they are hanging tough in the National League East. The Braves took a step back in Tuesday’s defeat with struggles at the plate and on the mound doing them in. Michael Foltynewicz was charged with five runs on eight hits and a walk with seven K’s through five innings while three relievers held Tampa Bay off the scoreboard. The Bravos mustered four hits and three bases on balls with Jace Peterson, Andrelton Simmons and Cameron Maybin knocking in runs. Rookie Williams Perez gets his first career start against Tampa Bay at Turner Field Wednesday. Perez has made a pair of relief appearances with four runs given up on three hits and four BB in 2.1 innings.

The under is 13-3 in Tampa Bay’s last 16 road games and the under is 7-2-1 in their last 10 interleague games and  7-2 in TB last 9 on grass. The over is 13-3-2 in Atlanta’s last 18 home games and the under is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings. I don’t know what we’ll see from Perez and for that reason I’ll side with Tampa Bay….
