The Baltimore Orioles continue their series with the Seattle Mariners at Camden Yards in Wednesday action.
The Seattle Mariners are out to prove they have what it takes to be a contender in the American League West. The Mariners failed to prove it Tuesday with both their arms and bat struggling in a 9-4 defeat at Camden Yards. Starter Taijuan Walker took the loss with four runs plated on seven hits and four BB over 3.2 frames while Danny Farquhar allowed three runs and Matt Lowe, two. The M’s managed six hits and walked three times with Nelson Cruz smacking a three run homer against his former team with Seth Smith cracking his 4th. Lefty Roenis Elias makes his 5th start of 2015 when he opposes Baltimore on Wednesday. Elias comes off of a 2-1 loss to the Red Sox where he gave up a lone run on eight hits and a pair of BB in 6.1 innings.

The Baltimore Orioles and their fans have been waiting for that long hot streak that would propel them to the top of the American League East. Perhaps the Orioles are poised to go on a run with Tuesday’s decision giving the Birds consecutive victories. Starter Miguel Gonzalez gave up all four runs in seven frames while striking out eight to get the win. The O’s racked up 13 hits and walked five times with Jimmy Paredes going 2-4 with a homer and four RBI’s while Caleb Joseph was 2-4 with a pair of runs and two driven in. Manny Machado and Alejandro De Aza both scored twice in a game the Orioles once trailed 4-1. Left hander Wei-Yin Chen toes the rubber against visiting Seattle on Wednesday night. Chen suffered a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Angels last time out with a pair of runs plated on five hits while striking out seven over 7.1 frames.
The under is 19-5-2 in Seattle’s last 26 Wednesday games while the Mariners are 2-7 in their last 9 Wednesday games and are 3-9 in their last 12 games as an underdog. The under is 15-5-2 in Baltimore’s last 22 Wednesday games while the Orioles are 44-20 in their last 64 home games with the under going 7-1 in Chen’s last 8 Wednesday starts. The under is 7-1 in the last 8 meetings and Seattle are 3-9 in the last 12 meetings in Baltimore. I don’t think Elias can be completely overlooked but I think Chen is a bit under rated…
