The Los Angeles Angels collide with the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre in game three of their series.
The defending American League West champion Los Angeles Angels have yet to hit their stride as they chase Houston for the division lead. After getting blasted in the series opener at Toronto the Los Angeles Angels turned to their pitching in a 3-2 win on Tuesday. Starter Hector Santiago gave up both runs (one earned) on four hits and a trio of free passes over seven innings to up his record to 3-2. The Angels made the most of six hits and three walks with Kole Calhoun going deep and scoring twice while David Freese and Chris Iannetta knocked in runs. Jered Weaver shoots for his third consecutive win when he takes the hill at the Rogers Centre. Weaver has won back to back outings with a combined one run allowed on nine hits in 16.1 frames.

The Toronto Blue Jays have the talent to beat any team but they need consistency to be a factor in the AL East. The Blue Jays could not build on Monday’s ten run explosion with the offense stalling Tuesday. In the process a solid outing by Aaron Sanchez went for naught with all three runs plated on six hits and three free passes through 7.1 frames to fall to 3-4. The Blue Jays managed four hits and walked three times with Josh Donaldson connecting on a solo jack and a sacrifice fly to drive in two. Drew Hutchison hopes for another solid start when he opposes the Angels on Wednesday night. Hutchison comes off of a 6-4 loss at Houston where he gave up a pair of runs on five hits with nine K’s in six innings.
The Angels are 8-1 in their last 9 Wednesday games and are 9-3 in their last 12 games on astroturf while going 2-6 in their last 8 games as an underdog. The Blue Jays are 8-2 in their last 10 home games and the under is 6-2-1 in their last 9 on astroturf while Toronto are 11-5 in their last 16 Wednesday games. The Angels are 8- in Weaver’s last 9 starts against Toronto and 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in Toronto. I’m going with Weaver here with the Angels still playing well….
