The Boston Red Sox look to end their series with the Texas Rangers with a win on Thursday.
The Texas Rangers are a team that needs both their arms and bats on the same page to succeed. Just the arms showed up Wednesday and that turned out to be enough in a 2-1 win at Fenway Park. Phil Klein allowed the lone run on a solo homer over 5.1 frames while four relievers held Boston scoreless. The Rangers managed eight hits and walked twice with Robinson Chirinos connecting on his 4th long ball while Elvis Andrus smacked a sacrifice fly. Left hander Wandy Rodriguez draws the start at Fenway Park on Thursday. Rodriguez is coming off of an 8-3 defeat to Cleveland where he gave up five runs on eight hits over 4.2 frames.

The Boston Red Sox are trying to reach .500 and go from there as I believe no team is a serious threat with a losing record. The Red Sox could have reached .500 with a win Wednesday but struggled at the plate which squandered a strong performance on the mound. Joe Kelly gave up both runs on seven hits and struck out seven through seven innings to absorb the loss. The Red Sox had some opportunities on a nine hit, three walk attack with Xander Bogaerts second homer of the season being the lone source of offense. Three players posted two hits apiece but the big hit didn’t come. The Red Sox are hoping Clay Buchholz has righted the ship from his early season struggles. Buchholz is coming off of a 2-1 defeat at Seattle where he gave up a run on three hits over eight innings while whiffing eleven.
The under is 14-3-1 in Boston’s last 18 overall and the under is 20-9-2 in their last 31 Thursday games while the Red Sox are 3-14 in Buchholz’s last 17 home starts. Buchholz has looked good lately but laying the big chalk just doesn’t feel good to me…
