The Cincinnati Reds take on the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field in interleague action Friday.

So far it looks like just another hi-hum type season for the Cincinnati Reds who can’t get their pitch and offense going long enough to go on a hot streak. The Reds have dropped five in a row following a 7-1 defeat at Kansas City on Wednesday. Starter put his team behind the eight ball with four runs plated on four hits over 3.2 frames to fall to 3-4. The offense produced nine hits and a pair of walks with Brandon Phillips going 3-5  with an RBI double that scored Zack Cozart. Mike Leake draws the series opening start against Cleveland on Friday night. Leake is in need of a huge rebound following an 11-2 loss to San Francisco that saw him charged with nine runs on eleven hits including three homers in five innings.

Cleveland Indians vs. Cincinnati Reds - 5/22/15 MLB Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland Indians were hoping to be a challenger in the American League Central but right now reaching .500 would be an accomplishment. The Indians have taken a few steps towards this goal with a 5-2 win versus the White Sox being number three in a row. Starter Danny Salazar gave up five hits and a trio of BB through six scoreless innings to get the win with Bryan Shaw serving up a two run homer in the 9th to spoil the gem. The Tribe pounded out eleven hits and walked six times with Nick Swisher going 2-4 with a homer while Mike Aviles was 4-5 with a solo jack. Carlos Carrasco looks to get in the win column when he opposes visiting Cincinnati on Friday. Carrasco has struggled the last two times out with a combined nine runs scored on 17 hits in 14.2 frames.

Cincinnati are 3-13 in their last 16 Friday games and are 17-42 in their last 59 road games while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 interleague road games. The over is 7-2 in Cleveland’s last 9 home games and the Indians  are 2-6 in their last 8 interleague games while the over is 20-8 in their last 28 Friday games. The Reds are 1-10 in the last 11 meetings in Cleveland. I’m going with Cleveland only because I don’t have faith in the Reds…
