The Colorado Rockies welcome division rival the San Francisco Giants to Coors Field in Friday action.
The San Francisco Giants are hot and putting the pressure on Los Angeles in the National League West. The Giants added more pressure with Thursday’s 4-0 against Clayton Kershaw. Madison Bumgarner was at his best with seven hits and a pair of walks issued over 6.1 innings to up his record to 5-2. The bats posted nine hits and walked twice with Bumgarner helping his own cause with a homerun. Hunter Pence was 2-4 with a pair of runs knocked in while Angel Pagan went 2-4 and scored two times. Ryan Vogelsong looks to continue his solid work on the mound when he opposes the Rockies at Coors Field. Vogelsong defeated Cincinnati 11-2 last time out with both runs scored on six hits and four BB in 5.2 frames.

The Colorado Rockies need to go on a hot streak soon to at least challenge the .500 mark and then just hope for the best. Things haven’t made a turn for the better although Thursday’s 7-3 win against visiting Philadelphia was a positive step. The pen and bats were the stars as starter Jorge De La Rosa wasn’t at his best. De La Rosa allowed all three runs on five hits and a trio of BB through 4.1 frames with six relievers putting up zeros. The offense racked up 12 hits and walked six times with Michael McHenry going 1-2 with a homer, two RBI’s, two runs and three walks. Brandon Barnes was 4-4with a run and RBI while Ben Paulsen was 2-5 with a run.Kyle Kendrick is hoping for some run support when he matches up with San Francisco. Kendrick has been solid the last two times out with only three runs given upon ten hits and five BB in 14 innings.
The under is 7-2-1 in San Francisco’s last 10 Friday games while the Giants are 1-7 in Vogelsong’s last 8 road starts and 9-2 in Vogelsong’s last 11 Friday starts. Colorado are 1-7 in their last 8 home games and are 7-21 in their last 28 overall while going 7-21 in their last 28 games on grass. I don’t like either hurler here and if forced to make a pick I’d go with the better team but Vogelsong isn’t a great option…
