The Kansas City Royals welcome the St Louis Cardinals to Kauffman Stadium for an interleague tilt.
The St Louis Cardinals are the best the National League Central has to offer and might be the best team in the game. The Cards are in a bit of a slowdown as they have been playing .500 baseball the past few weeks after a 5-0 defeat at Citi Field on Thursday afternoon. Starter Jaime Garcia was outstanding in his first start with a pair of runs allowed on five hits and five walks in seven frames before Randy Choate served up a three run bomb in the 8th to break open a close contest. The Cards couldn’t touch Jacob deGrom who tossed a one hitter in eight frames with Matt Carpenter posting a single. Lance Lynn looks for his third straight quality start when he faces Kansas City on Friday. In two previous starts Lynn has given up a single run on ten hits and six BB covering 13.1 innings.

If somebody said the Kansas City Royals are the best team in baseball it would be tough to argue with. The Royals are leading the American League Central and have been at the top of their game as winners in seven of ten after a 7-1 rout of Cincinnati on Wednesday. Starter Jeremy Guthrie was dominant with six scoreless innings to up his record to 4-2. The offense did not waste the effort with a ten hit, one walk attack producing a pair of RBI’s from Kendrys Morales and Alex Gordon while Lorenzo Cain and Eric Hosmer scored two runs each. Veteran Chris Young draws just his 4th start of 2015 when he takes the bump against St Louis. In three starts Young has allowed just a single run on seven hits and five free passes over 17.2 frames.
St Louis are 8-2 in their last 10 Friday games and the over is 6-2 in their last 8 Friday games while the Cardinals are 24-10 in their last 34 overall. Kansas City are 8-2 in their last 10 Friday games and are 22-8 in their last 30 home games while the Royals are 20-8 in their last 28 interleague games. This is a game to just watch in my view but I’ll take the home team who is playing a bit better…
