The Miami Marlins look to end their series with the Baltimore Orioles with a win on Sunday.
The Baltimore Orioles seem primed to go on a run that would carry them to the top of the American League East. The Orioles took a step back from their hot streak with the offense taking Saturday off in a 1-0, 13 inning loss at Miami. In the process the Birds missed out on picking up a game in the standings while wasting great work on the mound. Mike Wright tossed seven scoreless frames for a no decision with three relievers putting up zeros before TJ McFarland gave up the game winner. The Orioles managed nine hits and a base on balls but could not get the big hit. Miguel Gonzalez has been either good or bad over the past few weeks and it was more of the latter last time out. Gonzalez gave up four runs in a 9-4 loss to Seattle on five hits and two BB over seven frames.

The Miami Marlins are in dire need of a prolonged hot streak after a two week slide dropped the team to last in the National League East. The Marlins eight game slide finally ended Saturday although it was a marathon with the offense continuing to struggle. Starter Dan Haren tossed a seven hit shutout through six frames with five relievers keeping the dangerous Baltimore bats at bay for another six innings. The Fish totaled seven hits and walked five times with Martin Prado rapping a two single to score Adeiny Hechavvarria. Tom Koehler toes the rubber against visiting Baltimore in the final game of the series. Koehler has been outstanding in consecutive outings where he has allowed a combined one earned run on eight hits in 12.2 innings.
Baltimore are 2-9 in their last 11 road games and the under is 12-5-2 in their last 19 overall while the over is 19-8 in the Orioles last 27 interleague games. Miami are 0-9 in their last 9 home games and are 1-7 in their last 8 Sunday games while going 3-13 in their last 16 overall. I’m a bit leery of Koehler to be honest so I’m on the fence here…
