The Texas Rangers look for another win at Progressive Field against the Cleveland Indians.
The Texas Rangers were an afterthought early on but have suddenly gotten hot and have opened a few eyes. Eyes have opened a bit wider after the Rangers outscored Cleveland 10-8 Monday for their 6th straight win. Starter Phil Klein was tagged for seven runs over two frames before the pen put the clamps on the Tribe attack. The Rangers produced nine hits and walked three times with Prince Fielder and Elvis Andrus going deep and driving in three runs each while Adrian Beltre going solo. Left hander Wandy Rodriguez gets the call to the mound in game two of their series at Cleveland. Rodriguez will be looking to build on his 3-1 victory at Boston where he gave up the lone run on four hits over 6.2 frames.

The Cleveland Indians have been playing their best baseball of the season as they try to get back in the American League Central race. The Indians seemed poised to continue their hot streak against visiting Texas but their six game winning streak ended because their arms where tossing batting practice. Starter Shaun Marcum was charged with seven runs on four hits and three free passes with two homers allowed through 2.2 innings. The Tribe did plenty of damage on eight hits and seven walks with Roberto Perez going deep and driving in three while Carlos Santana went solo. The Indians are scheduled to send Danny Salazar to the hill for Tuesday’s start against the Rangers. Salazar comes off his best outing of the season in a 5-2 win at the White Sox with six scoreless innings.
Texas are 8-20 in their last 28 Tuesday games. The under is 7-1 in Cleveland’s last 8 overall and is 7-1 in their last 8 on grass while the Indians are 7-3 in Salazar’s last 10 home starts. The Rangers are 3-14 in the last 17 meetings. I think Cleveland has the edge here but after Monday I don’t know if I could bet them…
