The New York Mets shoot for another win against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citi Field.
The Philadelphia Phillies were red hot a few weeks ago but have slowed over the past week as they try to avoid the National League East basement. The Phillies have dropped four of five following a 6-3 defeat at Citi Field Monday. Rookie Severino Gonzalez gave up three runs and a pair of homers over 4.1 frames with the bullpen charged with three more. The Phils mustered six hits and walked three times with Chase Utley going 2-3 with a pair of RBI’s with Ryan Howard driving in his 24th.Jerome Williams is slated to be on the hill to face the Mets for the second time in 2015. Williams will be looking to rebound from a 7-3 defeat at Colorado where he gave up five runs on eight hits over five frames.

The New York Mets have been slowly losing ground in the National League East and Washington has taken over the top spot in the division as a result. The Mets are looking to regroup and make another run at the Nationals and took a step in that direction with Monday’s win snapping a three game skid. Veteran Bartolo Colon surrendered all three runs on six hits and two free passes in six frames to improve to 7-3. The New York attack produced eight hits and a trio of BB with Lucas Duda, Wilmer Flores and Michael Cuddyer smacking long balls. The Mets send a hot Jacob deGrom to the hill for his second match up with Philadelphia. DeGrom is coming off of a 5-0 victory against the Cardinals with a one hitter over eight innings while striking out eleven.
Philadelphia are 16-35 in their last 51 road games and the over is 5-2-1 in Williams' last 8 starts on grass while going 5-2-1 in Williams' last 8 starts overall. The under is 8-2 in New York’s last 10 games following a win while the Mets are 20-6 in their last 26 home games and 40-14 in their last 54 games as a favorite. Philadelphia are 7-23 in the last 30 meetings and the over is 50-20-5 in the last 75 meetings. I am a Philadelphia fan so it pains me to say this but I think the Mets are the choice…
