The New York Yankees shoot for back to back wins against the Kansas City Royals in Tuesday action.
The Kansas City Royals might sit atop the American League Central but they have no room for error with Detroit and Minnesota lurking in the shadows. The Royals have dropped consecutive contests after getting blasted 14-1 by the Yankees Monday. Starter Jeremy Guthrie was a sacrificial lamb with eleven runs allowed on eleven hits and three walks in one inning with four homers allowed. Blame this one on the manager for giving this one away as Guthrie had zero going for him. The offense had no chance on eight hits and three BB with Jarrod Dyson knocking in Alcides Escobar with the lone run. Left hander Danny Duffy gets the ball in game two of the series with the Yankees on Tuesday night. Duffy has been charged with a combined 14 runs on 15 hits and ten BB in 9.2 frames over his last three outings.

The New York Yankees are hoping to right the ship and make a return to the top of the American League East. The Yankees had lost nine of eleven before a dominant performance in the series opener against visiting Kansas City in all areas. Starter Nathan Eovaldi gave up the lone run on eight hits and a base on balls through seven frames to up his record to 4-1. The offense pounded out 14 hits and walked seven times with Slade Heathcott, Stephen Drew, Brett Gardner, Chase Headley and Brian McCann all slamming homeruns. The Yankees send Adam Warren to the bump for his first career start versus Kansas City. Warren has thrown the ball well in back to back outings with five earned runs allowed on eleven hits and five BB over 13.1 innings.
Kansas City are 45-21 in their last 66 overall and are 45-21 in their last 66 games on grass. The Yankees are 1-10 in their last 11 overall and are 3-10 in their last 13 Tuesday games. The Royals are 15-42 in the last 57 meetings in New York while the Royals are 36-78 in the last 114 meetings. I’m not completely sold on either hurler and if I were going to play this game it would be the over…
