The St Louis Cardinals will be looking to pick up ground in the standings with another win versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Arizona Diamondbacks have not been much of a factor in the National League West for quite awhile so winning six of seven heading to St Louis was a big deal. A 3-2 defeat was a tough loss as they trailed most of the game before tying it and then losing. Starter Chase Anderson allowed two runs on ten hits and a BB over six frames for a no decision with JC Ramirez allowing a homer in the 10th to take the loss. The Snakes had opportunities on nine hits and five walks but a two run homer from Mark Trumbo was the extent of the scoring. Archie Bradley makes his first career start against the Cardinals Tuesday night. Bradley has struggled in two starts since coming back from getting hit in the head with a line drive. Bradley has allowed eight runs on 17 hits in seven innings since his return.

The St Louis Cardinals might be the best team in the game when all is said and done but they are trying to fend off the Cubs in the National League Central. The Cardinals have done their part with consecutive victories after downing the Diamondbacks in the series opener on Monday. Starter Carlos Martinez tossed seven scoreless frames before Kevin Siegrist served up a two run bomb to blow the save. The Redbirds racked up 15 hits and walked twice with Matt Adams and Jason Heyward driving in runs with Jhonny Peralta smacking a walk off homer in the 10th. Jaime Garcia will be making his second start of the season when he opposes the Diamondbacks. Garcia threw the ball well in a 5-0 loss at the Mets with two runs plated on five hits and five BB over seven frames.
Arizona are 4-10 in their last 14 Tuesday games. St Louis are 40-12 in their last 52 home games and are 42-15 in their last 57 games as a favorite while the over is 6-2 in Garcia’s last 8 starts as a favorite. The Cardinals have the advantage in my view but I don’t like the chalk…
