The Baltimore Orioles and the Chicago White Sox clash in game two to their doubleheader on Thursday.
The Chicago White Sox shoot for a win in the second game of their twin bill at Camden Yards on Thursday afternoon. The White Sox have been the odd man out in the American League Central almost a quarter in to 2015. The team has yet to get their offense and pitching on the same page lately and as a result the .500 mark has gotten further away. I believe the White Sox are still a few players away from becoming a legitimate threat in the division but I also believe the talent base is in place and success isn’t way down the road. Chicago also has the misfortune of sharing the same division as Detroit, Kansas City and a surprising Minnesota in what might be the toughest in the game right now. Rookie Chris Beck will be called up to make his major league debut in game two versus Baltimore. In eight games at AAA Charlotte Beck was 3-2 with a 3.30 ERA.

The Baltimore Orioles are not really doing much of anything to distinguish themselves thus far and that might be the biggest news regarding this team as many penciled them in as the team to beat in the American League East. That is still a distinct possibility as no team has been tearing things up in what looks to be a wide open but not as strong division which could play in to the Orioles favor. The talent base appears to be close to what was in 2014 when the Birds won the East although the results tell a different story. The work on the mound has been good enough to win games but the offense has had trouble being consistent and the O’s pitching is one that needs run support. Rookie Mike Wright makes his third start looking to keep putting up zeros with 14.1 innings pitched.
The under is 7-2 in Chicago’s last 9 overall and the White Sox are 18-37 in their last 55 Thursday games. The under is 11-3 in Baltimore’s last 14 home games and the under is 16-5-2 in their last 23 overall while the Orioles are 47-22 in their last 69 home games. The under is 11-3-1 in the last 15 meetings and the White Sox are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Baltimore. Two rookie hurlers means anything can happen but I’ll side with the kid who has some experience…
