The New York Mets welcome division rival the Miami Marlins to Citi Field on Friday night.
The goal for the Miami Marlins is to escape the National League East basement and the only way to do that is get some consistency from both their arms and bats. The Fish have dropped eight of ten after getting swept at Pittsburgh that was capped off by 5-2 loss on Wednesday. Starter Brad Hand threw five scoreless frames before Mike Dunn and Sam Dyson combined to allow all five runs in just 2/3 of an inning. The Marlins offense produced nine hits with Justin Bour and Christian Yelich smacking solo homers that gave Miami a 2-0 lead in the 5th. Miami is scheduled to start Dan Haren in the series opener at Citi Field with the Mets. Haren was at the top of his game last time out in a 1-0 win versus Baltimore with a seven hit shutout over six frames.

After leading the National League East early o the New York Mets slowed and Washington took over the top spot. The Mets are now chasing the Nationals and are coming off of a sweep of Philadelphia after Wednesday’s 7-0 victory which featured dominant play at the plate and on the mound. Starter Noah Snydergaard gave up six hits and struck out six through 7.1 frames to even his record at 2-2. The Mets pounded out 12 hits with Snydergaard and Michael Cuddyer slamming homers with Lucas Duda hitting two bombs. Ace Matt Harvey toes the rubber in the series opener against the Marlins on Friday night. Harvey was hammered 8-2 at Pittsburgh in his last start where he gave up seven runs on six hits including two homers over four innings.
The under is 7-2 in Miami’s last 9 games following a loss while the Marlins are 5-16 in their last 21 overall and 5-16 in their last 21 games on grass. The Mets are 22-6 in their last 28 home games and the under is 9-3 in their last 12 games following a win. The over is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings in New York and is 13-3-1 in the last 17 meetings. Harvey has not been dominant in this match up and Haren is throwing great so don’t bet the house…
