The Milwaukee Brewers welcome the Arizona Diamondbacks to Miller Park to kick off a weekend series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks are chasing the Dodgers and Giants in the National League West so avoiding losing streaks of any length is imperative. That hasn’t been happening lately as the Diamondbacks have lost four of five following a 4-3 loss at St Louis. Starter Josh Collmenter gave up two runs on six hits and two free passes over five frames for a no decision with Brad Ziegler serving up a two run bomb in the 9th to take the loss. The Snakes mustered seven hits and walked five times with Mark Trumbo connecting on a two run jack that scored Cliff Pennington. Rubby De La Rosa opposes the Brewers for the first time in his career on Friday. De La Rosa has been alternating good and bad starts and it was the latter in a 9-6 loss to the Cubs with four runs plated on four hits and two BB in six frames.

The Milwaukee Brewers are digging themselves quite a hole as they are occupying the basement of the National League Central while the Cardinals have been racking up wins. The Brewers are in the midst of a five game slide after a 3-1 loss to the visiting Giants. Starter Mike Fiers kept his team in the game with a pair of runs scored on eight nits in five frames but still fell to 1-5. The offense never got going on six hits with Elian Herrera singling in Adam Lind with the only run. The Brewers turn to Jimmy Nelson on the hill for the series opener against the Diamondbacks. Nelson dropped a 2-1 decision at Atlanta where he allowed both runs on five hits and four walks in 5.2 innings.
The under is 6-2 in Arizona’s last 8 road games and the Diamondbacks are 16-35 in their last 51 road games. Milwaukee are 2-7 in their last 9 Friday games while the over is 11-4-1 in their last 16 Friday games and 10-4-1 in their last 15 home games. This is an ugly match up and good luck to those who bet it because I’m just going with the better odds…
