The Los Angeles Dodgers travel to Coors Field to face the division rival Colorado Rockies.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been playing around .500 baseball over the past few weeks which won’t be good enough to hold off San Francisco in the National League West. The Dodgers have dropped three of four after a 3-1 defeat at St Louis on Sunday afternoon with the offense unable to produce. Starter Brett Anderson took the loss with a pair of runs allowed on five hits and three walks over six frames to fall to 2-3. Los Angeles managed only two hits and walked five times with Joc Peterson going deep while Andre Ethier was 1-3 with a walk. Left hander Clayton Kershaw toes the rubber look for back to back wins when he faces Colorado for the 4th time. Kershaw is coming off of an 8-0 win versus Atlanta with four hits and ten strikeouts over seven frames.
USA TODAY Sports
The Colorado Rockies are playing their best baseball of the season and need to continue playing well to get themselves back in the National League West. The Rockies have won seven of eight after a 4-1 victory at Philadelphia for a sweep of their three game set. This was pithing by committee with Christopher Rusin tossing 4.2 scoreless innings to pick up the victory. The offense totaled nine hits and a base on balls with DJ LeMathieu going 3-4 with a homer and two RBI’s and two runs while Nolan Arenado also leaving the yard and knocking in two. Colorado turns to Kyle Kendrick who opposes the Dodgers for the third time on the season. Kendrick defeated Cincinnati 6-4 last time out with four runs plated on five hits including two bombs over 7.1 innings.
The over is 19-7-4 in the Dodgers last 30 Monday games while Los Angeles going 28-11 in their last 39 Monday games while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 games as a favorite. The over is 7-2 in Colorado’s last 9 vs. National League West while the Rockies are 6-14 in their last 20 Monday games and are 4-9 in their last 13 home games. The over is 12-3 in the last 15 meetings and the Dodgers are 21-6 in Kershaw’s last 27 starts vs. Colorado. It’s hard to go against Kershaw and I won’t despite the Rockies being hot….
