The Arizona Diamondbacks and the Atlanta Braves face off on Wednesday at Chase Field as they continue their MLB series.
The Arizona Diamondbacks had to rally after blowing a big lead on Tuesday to get the win. A.J. Pollack hit a home run and Yasmany Tomas and Jordan Pacheco each had two hits as the Diamondbacks scored seven runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Josh Collmenter allowed six hits and three runs while striking out three over 5.2 innings to not factor in the decision as Andrew Chafin got the win to go to 3-0 and Brad Ziegler earned his fourth save of the year. For Wednesday’s game the D-backs start Rubby De La Rosa who has allowed 57 hits and 32 earned runs while striking out 59 over 64 innings for a 4-2 record and a 4.50 ERA.

The Atlanta Braves battled from behind on Tuesday only to blow the lead in the end and take the loss. Todd Cunningham had three hits, Nick Markakis had two hits, and Freddie Freeman had a hit as the Braves scored six runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Shelby Miller had his worst start of the year allowing six hits and four runs while striking two over 4.1 innings to not get a decision as Brandon Cunniff took the loss. For Wednesday’s game the Braves start Michael Foltynewicz who has allowed 35 hits and 16 earned runs while striking out 38 over 36.1 innings for a 3-2 record and a 3.96 ERA.
Arizona is 5-1 against the NL East, 6-23 in game three of a series, and 4-1 in De La Rosa’s last five starts. Atlanta is 4-0 in game three of a series, 7-2 against a team with a losing record, and 6-13 against the NL West. Atlanta is 7-4 in the last 11 meetings of these two.
The Braves loss on Tuesday was a heart breaker and I look for Arizona to have an easier time with this one.
