The Oakland Athletics look to continue their winning ways when they travel to the Boston Red Sox.
The Oakland Athletics are looking to put their slow start behind them and climb the ranks in the American League West. The Athletics have been coming on strong and continued to do so with Thursday’s 7-5 win at Detroit. The A’s have now won five in a row and eight of eleven with great offense and starting pitching leading the way. Jesse Hahn won it with a run plated on five hits over seven frames before Dan Otero nearly gave it away with four runs allowed in the 9th. The A’s posted ten hits and walked four times with Billy Butler going 2-4 with two RBI’s with Josh Phegley driving in two more. Left hander Scott Kazmir is slated to face the Red Sox in game one of their weekend series. Kazmir did not receive a decision in a 3-2 loss to Detroit where he gave up three walks in three scoreless innings.

The Boston Red Sox have been going nowhere fast in the American League East prompting many to say the team is over rated. Only time will tell if that is true won but it held true in Thursday’s 8-4 loss to visiting Minnesota. The defense and pitching did them in with starter Steven Wright allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits through six frames with Koju Uehara charged with four runs (two earned without recording an out. The offense ad plenty of chances on a 12 hit attack with Dustin Pedroia going deep with two runs while Blake Swihart hit his third long ball. Wade Miley looks to get back in the win column when he opposes Oakland on Friday. Miley struggled in his last outing with six runs allowed on nine hits and two BB over four innings of an 8-0 loss at Texas.
The over is 6-1-2 in Oakland’s last 9 Friday games and is 5-1-3 in their last 9 games as an underdog. The under is 12-4 in Boston’s last 16 home games and is 23-9-1 in their last 33 overall while the Red Sox are 3-7 in their last 10 overall. The under is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings and the over is 15-6-1 in the last 22 meetings in Boston. The hot team as a dog? Okay I’ll give them a shot…
