The Oakland Athletics look to get back in the win column against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
The Oakland Athletics looked like a team that was dead in the water early on but they have been slowly turned thing in the right direction. The Athletics too a step back in Friday’s 4-2 defeat at Fenway Park but have still won six of eight. Scott Kazmir wasn’t at his best with four runs scored (three earned) on nine hits over 4.2 frames to fall to 2-4. The A’s managed eight hits and walked once with Brett Lawrie going 3-4 with a homer and two runs while Mark Canha singled in a run. Jesse Chavez will be looking to continue his torrid work on the mound when he faces the Red Sox. Chavez has allowed an unearned run the past two times out on 12 hits over 16 innings.

The Boston Red Sox are looking to get back in the American League East race which only can be accomplished by a long hot streak. The Red Sox took a step in the right direction with a win in the series opener against a hot Oakland squad but have still dropped eight of eleven. Starter Wade Miley was charged with both runs on six hits through 7.1 frames to even his record at 5-5. Brock Holt and Hanley Ramirez paced an eleven hit attack with RBI’s while Dustin Pedroia went 2-3 and scored twice. The Red Sox hand the ball to Joe Kelly for his first career start against the Athletics. Kelly comes off of a 4-3 loss at Texas where he gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits and two BB in five frames.
The under is 5-1-3 in Oakland’s last 9 games as an underdog while the Athletics are 2-6 in Chavez’s last 8 starts on grass. Boston are 3-8 in their last 11 overall and are 3-8 in their last 11 games on grass while the under is 12-5 in their last 17 home games. The under is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings and the over is 15-6-1 in the last 22 meetings in Boston. Until I see the Red Sox win a few I’ll side with the better odds…
