The Colorado Rockies and the Miami Marlins face off on Saturday at Coors Field as they continue theur MLB series.
The Colorado Rockies couldn’t take advantage of their opportunities on Friday as they fell to the Marlins in yet another game that was interrupted by weather. Troy Tulowitzki had three hits and Carlos Gonzalez and Nick Hundley had two hits each as the Rockies scored two runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Eddie Butler allowed 11 hits and six runs while striking out three over 5.1 innings to take the loss and fall to 3-6 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rockies start Christopher Rusin who has allowed eight hits and a run while striking out seven over 11.2 innings for a 1-1 record and a 0.77 ERA.

The Miami Marlins won for the third game on a row as they beat the Rockies on Friday. Giancarlo Stanton hit a home run, J.T. Realmuto had four hits, and Dee Gordon had a hit as the Marlins scored sox runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Tom Koehler allowed eight hits and a run while striking out six over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 4-3 for the season and A.J. Ramos earned his sixth save. For Saturday’s game the Marlins start David Phelps who has allowed 53 hits and 21 runs while striking out 36 over 54 innings for a 2-2 record and a 3.50 ERA.
Colorado is 9-4 in their last 13 games, 4-1 against a team with a losing record, and 3-11 in game two of a series. Miami is 7-2 against a left-handed starter, 1-4 against the NL West, and 0-4 in Phelps’ last four starts.
Rusin’s numbers don’t tell the whole story because of the limited action he has seen and I see the Marlins getting the best of this one once again.
