The New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Angels face off on Sunday at Yankee Stadium as they close out their MLB series.
The New York Yankees continue to defy time and lead the AL East as they pounded the Angels on Saturday. Brian McCann hit a home run and Brett Gardener and Carlos Beltran each had two hits as the Yankees scored eight runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Andrew Warren allowed four hits and two runs while striking out two over 6.2 innings to get the win an go to 4-4 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Yankees start C.C. Sabathia who has allowed 83 hits and 40 earned runs while striking out 57 over 66 innings for a 2-7 record and a 5.45 ERA.

The Los Angeles Angels fell apart early on Saturday and never recovered as they fell to the Yankees. Mike Trout hit a home run and Albert Pujols and David Freese each had hits as the Yankees scored two runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Garrett Richards allowed five hits and six runs lasting just 2/3 of an inning and taking the loss to fall to 5-4 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Angels look to bounce back as they start C.J. Wilson who has allowed 60 hits and 28 earned runs while striking out 56 over 71 innings for a 3-4 record and a 3.55 ERA.
New York is 5-0 in their last five games, 5-1 at home against a team with a losing record, and 13-6 in Sabathia’s last 19 Sunday starts. Los Angeles is 2-5 in game three of a series, 6-2 against a left-handed starter, and 4-17 in Wilson’s last 21 road starts. Los Angeles is 8-24 in their last 32 games in New York.
There should be plenty of offense in this one and the Yankees lineup is just hitting better right now making them the choice here.
