The Tampa Bay Rays couldn’t solve Felix Hernandez as they fell to the Mariners on Saturday. Kevin Kiermaier had two hits, Jake Elmore had a hit, and David Dejesus was one of three batters to walk as the Rays scored one run on three hits. Starting pitcher Alex Colome allowed seven hits and a run while striking out two over 6.0 innings to not get a decision as Steven Geltz took the loss. For Sunday’s game the Rays start Chris Archer who has allowed 53 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 97 over 76 innings for a 6-4 record and a 2.01 ERA.
Seattle is 1-4 as a home underdog, 2-5 against the AL East, and 2-7 in their last nine home games. Tampa Bay is 5-0 against a left-handed starter, 7-3 in game four of a series, and 12-2 in Archer’s last 14 road starts. Tampa Bay is 2-8 in the last 0 meetings of these two.
I am not looking for a lot of offense but I like the Rays chances of producing runs better and they are my choice here.
